Across eastern Zimbabwe to call for the restoration of The SADC Tribunal regional court of justice and to assess the state of the rural areas 24 years after the farm invasions began

Introduction
Ben Freeth, the Executive Director of the Mike Campbell Foundation, has been campaigning relentlessly for the restoration of the regional court of justice, the Southern African Development Community’s highly respected SADC Tribunal, since it was closed down at the instigation of Zimbabwe’s late president, Robert Mugabe, in 2012.
Since then, SADC citizens have had no access to justice when the justice systems have failed them in their own countries. This is the case in Zimbabwe due to the almost total capture of the judiciary, instigated initially by President Mugabe and followed through by President Mnangagwa who deposed Mugabe in a de facto coup d'état in 2017.
Ben’s first “Long Ride for Justice”/Prayer Ride to raise awareness of the ongoing need to restore the Tribunal took him on a challenging ride across western Zimbabwe from Mike Campbell’s family farm, Mount Carmel, to the Ngoma Bridge border post. The next leg of his journey was along the Caprivi Strip/Zambezi Region in northern Namibia and then south to the capital, Windhoek, which was the seat of the SADC Tribunal.
